My work hearkens back to childhood experiences of beauty and the divine as reflected in nature: experiences characterized by an unconscious wonder at sublimity. Encounters with certain colors, imagery, and natural beauty provide moments that engender memories and feelings like those of a child who is mesmerized by the simply beautiful: that is what my work attempts to elicit. I find I can achieve this best with the freedom and pleasure that oil painting provides. At times, visions of imaginary worlds, perhaps manifestations of memories I've held closest to my heart, play in my mind, and inform my practice. These visions and memories reconnect me to my deepest sense of self, and to something greater, and the work they inspire is meant to provide the viewer with a sense of peace.
